Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sadness at the death of renowned Odia writer Binapani Mohanty on Sunday, praising her “monumental contributions” to Odia literature, particularly fiction writing.
Mohanty died on Sunday night at her Cuttack home owing to age-related issues, according to her relatives.

“Pained by the passing away of noted writer Binapani Mohanty Ji. She made monumental contributions to Odia literature, especially fiction writing,” Modi said in a tweet.
“Her works have been translated in various languages and attained great popularity. Condolences to her family and admirers. Om Shanti,” the prime minister said.
